Brunvoll is to provide propulsion and manoeuvring systems for SunStone Ships’ new expedition cruise vessel as part of a new contract with Ulstein Design & Solutions.

In the first half of 2018, Brunvoll will deliver a gearbox, a twin screw diesel-electric propeller system, a rudder, steering gear, tunnel thrusters and control systems.

“This is a strategic important contract for us as it also positions us as a system supplier, including for propulsion systems to the cruise segment,” said Hallvard Pettersen, CEO of Brunvoll Volda.

SunStone Ships’ newbuild will be developed from a Ulstein CX103 design and will be built at China Merchants Heavy Industry’s yard in Jiangsu, China.
