American Cruise Lines is to more than double its capacity in the Pacific Northwest in 2018 when it repositions American Constellation from America’s East Coast to the West Coast.

American Constellation, which debuted in May 2017, will spend the rest of 2017 operating American Cruise Lines' Grand New England, Hudson River, Grand Historic South, and Historic South cruises on the East Coast.

Next year, the 175-passenger ship will sail 18 cruises in Alaska, freeing up American Spirit to operate American Cruise Lines' popular Puget Sound & San Juan Islands itinerary from July to August. This will be the first time the line has ever offered summer cruises in Puget Sound.

American Cruise Lines has also created a new 11-day roundtrip – ‘Grand Puget Sound’ – from Seattle to various ports in the Pacific Northwest. They will include Olympia and Tacoma, two ports that are not often accessed by larger cruise ships.

“Small ship cruising is the best way to experience Alaska and Puget Sound,” said Timothy Beebe, vice president of American Cruise Lines. “With our brand new ships, we are able to accommodate evolving guest expectations for premium comfort.”

American Constitution will take over America Constellation’s East Coast cruises in 2018.
