Almaco Group is to build the catering areas onboard Saga Cruises’ first purpose-built cruise ship, which will be built by Meyer Werft in Germany and delivered in summer 2019.

The company helped Saga Cruises to choose the catering equipment and design the main galley, crew galley, pantries, counters and refrigeration equipment for the catering areas in the pre-contractual stage of the project. Almaco will also provide visual turnkey installation services.

“It is an honour to be part of this first purpose-built vessel for Saga Cruises and that Meyer Werft continues to trust Almaco’s quality and reliability,” said Erik Schobesberger, Almaco Group’s vice president of Newbuilding Sales for the Marine Division. “Almaco understands the need for owners to optimise the design at the earliest stages of the process and by working side by side with Meyer Werft and Saga, we were able to deliver a customised and efficient design and next will build the catering areas suited for Saga Cruises’ discerning guests.”

Saga Cruises newbuild will accommodate fewer than 1,000 passengers and will potentially be joined by a sister ship in 2021 if the company decides to take up the option for an additional vessel.
