Viking Line extends services

Finnish operator Viking Line is to increase services between Helsinki and Tallinn from 12 June to 31 August 2014.

Over this period, Viking Line will provide three daily departures from Helsinki to Tallinn, two of which will depart during the morning and one in the evening. Viking XPRS will continue to provide a service on the Helsinki–Tallinn route, with slightly altered departure times.

In addition, both Gabriella and Mariella – which sail on the Helsinki-Mariehamn-Stockholm route – will operate between Helsinki and Tallinn, as well as sailing their usual ‘Day in Stockholm’ cruises from Helsinki to Stockholm.

“There has been a great need for more capacity on this route, especially during the summer season,” said Mikael Backman, president and CEO at Viking Line. “It’s great that we’re able to come up with these kinds of out-of-the-box solutions that enable us to make good use of the existing fleet – in both a cost-efficient and creative manner.”

Passengers will be able to enjoy a new six-hour ‘Picnic Cruise’ from Helsinki, while travellers from Stockholm will be able to spend a day in Helsinki, cruise to Tallinn, or spend a night in Tallinn. Cruise passengers from Estonia will have a new option to travel by ship to Åland or Stockholm.

“We’re happy to now provide an even wider range of opportunities on the Baltic Sea and serve our customers even better than before,” Backman said.
