30 MARKETWATCH Safety at Sea helps operators comply with new IMO guidance UK-based maritime safety consultancy Safety at Sea is helping ship operators to remain compliant with the new critical interim safety guidance, approved at the International Maritime Organization Maritime Safety Committee’s 111th session in London, UK. As well as safety guidance for alternative fuels, the committee agreed Explanatory Notes for Safe Return to Port and orderly evacuation and abandonment following fire or flooding. The agreement broadens the 2010 guidance across the vessel lifecycle, covering precontract planning, design, acceptance criteria, assessment, testing, onboard documentation and operational aspects. The guidance will affect vessels from 1 January 2028.
