Cruise & Ferry Review - Autumn/Winter 2026

31 Shipping technology provider Alfred Maritime has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) platform to provide passenger vessel crews with advice on increasing energy efficiency. The platform integrates with Alfred Maritime’s flagship product, the Meyer Energy Management System (MEMS). The system was co-developed with Meyer Turku’s energy efficiency team and first introduced in 2023. The firm has been developing its artificial intelligence platform, Alfred AI, since the end of 2024. “While we already presented AI functionality to some customers in 2025, we were still unsure about the model’s answers,” said Paul Meyer, managing director at Alfred Maritime. By 2026, following an extensive testing and validation phase, the AI platform was able to provide voyage summaries. “It took us a lot of sweat and tears to advance to the stage where we fully believe in it,” adds Meyer. “That stage is now reached!” Alfred Maritime launches AI-powered platform for energy efficiency advice DATES FOR YOUR DIARY SMM Hamburg 1-4 September 2026 Hamburg, Germany www.smm-hamburg.com Seatrade Cruise Med 16-17 September 2026 Gran Canaria, Spain www.seatradecruiseevents.com/med Greenport Congress 7-9 October 2026 Portsmouth, United Kingdom www.portstrategy.com/greenport-congress Interferry 31 October-4 November 2026 Bangkok, Thailand www.interferry.com/interferry2026-bangkokthailand International Cruise Summit 10-11 November 2026 Madrid, Spain www.internationalcruisesummit.com Seatrade Cruise Asia 16-20 November 2026 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia www.seatradecruiseevents.com/asia Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Europe 2-3 December 2026 Hamburg, Germany https://cruiseshipinteriors-europe.com Motor Ship Propulsion & Future Fuels Conference 8-10 December 2026 Hamburg, Germany www.motorship.com/propulsion-and-futurefuels-conference The 2026 International Cruise Summit will take place from 10-11 November 2026 at Hotel Meliá Castilla in Madrid, Spain, and welcome around 350 delegates from Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
