61 We are currently developing Cruise Baltic’s next strategy, building on the same strong foundation while sharpening the focus of our work in the years ahead. Key areas include gaining a better understanding of the small cruise segment as we see growing interest and more calls from smaller ships across the region, exploring how we can help support a longer season, and strengthening cooperation with tour operators, port agents and other industry partners. We will also continue our familiarisation trips (pictured) and Cruise Baltic Summits, giving cruise lines the opportunity to experience destinations across the Baltic region first-hand and communicate directly with them. Cruise Europe was founded in 1991 by 27 ports across the Northern and Atlantic Europe region. We have grown to 160 members, operating in an area that goes from Lisbon, Portugal, in the south, to Svalbard in the north, and from Hamina, Finland, in the east to Greenland in the west. Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland, is our newest port member. As we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we reflect on a remarkable period of growth for the association, our members and the wider industry. Over the past 25 years, our region has expanded from 300,000 cruise passengers to more than 3.6 million, and our share of global cruise capacity has almost tripled from 3.3 per cent to 9.1 per cent. Northern and Atlantic Europe is now the world’s third-largest cruise region, representing around nine per cent of global capacity in 2026 – behind only the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
