Cruise & Ferry Interiors 2026

96 INTERVIEW In 2025, Gerolamo Scorza outfitted public spaces, including the photo gallery, onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl Global growth Alfredo De Flora of Gerolamo Scorza tells Laura Hyde how the Italian outfitter is managing multiple simultaneous refurbishments projects and newbuild contracts in 2026 Founded almost 130 years ago, Gerolamo Scorza continues to thrive. The Italian outfitter, which is part of the Genova Industrie Navali (GIN) group, increased its workforce by 20 per cent from 48 employees in 2024 to 62 in 2025 to meet growing demand for its bespoke services. Between April and May 2026, the firm delivered five dry dock projects simultaneously for some of the largest cruise brands in the industry, including Norwegian Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, Seabourn and AIDA Cruises. Gerolamo Scorza carried out work on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Jade at the Victoria Shipyards in British Columbia, Canada, and Norwegian Gem at Chantier Naval de Marseille in France. This included upgrades to buffet areas, gazebos and pool pillar structures, restaurants, photo galleries and crew areas. At the same time, another team was in Singapore to refurbish corridors, upgrade bathrooms and enhance lobby and restaurant ceilings onboard Silversea’s Silver Cloud. “These projects span shipyards across the globe and showcased our ability to operate at scale, with precision and flexibility,” says Alfredo De Flora, managing director at Gerolamo Scorza. “Our teams were engaged across a wide spectrum of environments, from public areas to passenger cabins and crew spaces, all with a strong focus on craftsmanship, attention to detail and delivering outstanding onboard experiences for cruise lines and their guests. This intensive schedule reflects our commitment to excellence, our global operational capability and our role as a trusted partner for complex refurbishment projects in the cruise industry.” Gerolamo Scorza is also outfitting public and crew areas on several newbuilds, most notably for Explora Journeys, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises and industry newcomer, Four Seasons Yachts. It has also been contracted by shipyard T. Mariotti (also part of the GIN group) to outfit crew and public areas onboard three new ships for the Italian Ministry of Defence, as well as a vessel for Italy’s Ministry of Environment. “We’re very busy right now,” says De Flora. “Our volume of work has increased significantly so we’ve invested in expanding our team – we expect our turnaround to be approximately €18 million ($20.9 million) this year. We’re proud of the expertise our teams bring to projects of all sizes, and we hope to continue for at least another 130 years!”
