Cruise & Ferry Review - Spring/Summer 2021

1 3 9 “One of our most satisfying projects was to bring an unpopular smoking bar back to life onboard Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 in 2017. The small budget made it difficult to demolish existing structures and replace them with a new architectural concept, but we used innovative measures to create a detailed and personalised interior concept that was enhanced by artwork. It was amazing to see how much Hapag-Lloyd’s repeat guests appreciated this transformation – the Collins Bar is now reportedly the most popular venue on the ship.” “One of the most impressive spaces at sea is Silversea Cruises’ iconic La Dame restaurant, which can be found aboard both Silver Shadow and Silver Moon. Handmade Lalique crystal artworks adorn the walls of both La Dame restaurants, delighting diners with their fine craftsmanship and elegance. Each piece took Lalique’s master glassmakers approximately three months to craft and bear aquatic motifs. They are the epitome of ‘whispered luxury’.” Jochen Hagan, Managing Director of Cubik³ Interior Design Lorenzo Mortola, Partner at GEM Design for Cruise Ships
