1 8 Project focus CFI CURATED Marine glass bonding technology specialist Brombach + Gess created two extendable glass-floor balconies for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ new Hanseatic nature, which starts service this summer. Located on the ship’s port and starboard sides, the 10-metre-long balconies are two metres wide and accommodate 50 people. A hydraulic system enables crew to extend the balconies for guest use during the cruise, but retract them if waves become too dangerous. Genting Cruise Lines chose Almaco to transform Star Cruises’ SuperStar Virgo into Dream Cruises’ Explorer Dream ahead of her July 2019 debut in China. Almaco had just two months to procure and transport 160 tons of materials via cargo plane from Europe to the dry dock in Singapore. These materials were used to refurbish 543 cabins, construct two Palace suites, convert 44 staterooms into 22 Bay Suites, build and modernise 150 metres of corridors and create a new VIP galley.
