71 Staterooms and suites transition between different configurations to accommodate a variety of groups suite configurations, while the public areas had to support both full-group gatherings and smaller settings for dining, presentations, breakout meetings and more intimate social moments. The Lounge, which also features a dance floor, and can either host all the ship’s guests together or be divided to provide zones for smaller groups.” This adaptability is reinforced by an integrated digital layer, which allows operators to reconfigure the onboard environment in line with specific programmes or brand requirements. “The digital layer allows charterers to adapt signage, lighting scenes, presentation environments, content surfaces and guest touchpoints for their guests,” says Silvesjö. The Forum, a two-storey space capable of hosting events ranging from presentations to live entertainment and culinary demonstrations, represents the best example of how the vessel offers flexibility and connection, according to Silvesjö. “For us, the strongest spaces are always those where a great atmosphere, optimised operations, smart functional solutions and well-integrated technology support each other,” he says. “The Forum is a strong example because it captures the overall idea of the ship. It is not simply a meeting room, but a flexible social and presentation space for talks, performances, destination briefings, celebrations, brand moments and digitally supported presentations.” TDoS also aimed to create a feeling of spaciousness throughout the vessel, overcoming the physical constraints of a river cruise ship. “We placed a lot of focus on making the ship feel more spacious than expected,” Silvesjö explains. “Larger voids, thoughtful transitions between venues, lighting effects and maximised window glazing create openness, providing intuitive passenger flows, plenty of daylight and a stronger connection to the river and the destinations.” The result is a ship which more closely resembles a private vessel than a traditional cruise ship. “The design language is rooted in modern yacht sensibility, with more of a refined, residential character, rather than a traditional cruise aesthetic,” says Silvesjö. Transcend Connect is therefore neither a conventional river cruise ship nor a corporate charter boat, but something that sits deliberately between the two: a modular environment designed to meet whatever need its guests or operators require of it. It is this quality that Silvesjö believes will define how guests ultimately perceive the ship. “We are convinced that guests will feel that Transcend Connect is so much more than a standard river vessel,” she says. “It is a carefully curated environment, created to provide connection, superior comfort and meaningful time together.” “ The design language is rooted in modern yacht sensibility”
