23 Royal Caribbean International officially inaugurated the world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, in Miami, Florida, in January 2024. Argentina and Inter Miami footballer Lionel Messi named the ship and bestowed safekeeping onto the vessel by smashing a ceremonial bottle of champagne on the hull. The event was hosted by four-time Emmy award-winner Mario Lopez in AquaDome, one of the ship’s eight ‘neighbourhoods’. It is one of many record-breaking ships the Miami-based brand has launched.
