116 Dream Cruises’ World Dream will become Manara for Aroya Cruises INTERVIEW Refitting iconic ships MJM Marine’s Fiona Nevin tells Alice Chambers about the outfitter’s upcoming work onboard Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas and Aroya Cruises’ Manara MJM Marine has a long-standing relationship with Royal Caribbean Group. The firm served as the lead outfitter on dry docks for Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and its latest newbuilds, Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas. “With each new ship that Royal Caribbean launches, it raises the bar in the travel industry, enabling MJM Marine to take cruising to a whole new level of accessibility and adventure,” says Fiona Nevin, head of global business development at MJM Marine. “It’s also ensuring that its older ships aren’t left behind.” MJM has been hired to bring some new concept areas onboard Utopia of the Seas. “We’ll be transforming multiple key public spaces onboard, delivering a vibrant Playscape area, a mouthwatering Food Truck concept, a lively Pesky Parrot bar, a Starbucks haven, and an out-ofthis-world immersive dining experience, designed to transport travellers on a multi-course, locomotive culinary journey,” says Nevin. Another landmark project in the MJM order book is one of the largest cruise ship refurbishment projects to be undertaken within the marine industry. The project will involve work to convert the former Dream Cruises’ World Dream into Manara for new brand Aroya Cruises. “MJM’s involvement in this milestone project is a testament to its exceptional capabilities,” says Nevin. “Manara will serve as a melting pot of cultures, offering a premium atmosphere unlike any other. From stunning gastronomic adventures to captivating entertainment spaces, the ship will redefine the cruising experience. The incorporation of efficient technical upgrades will further enhance the ship’s performance and sustainability, setting new standards within the industry.” Manara arrived at Bredo Dry Docks in Bremerhaven, Germany, for an extended dry dock in June 2023.
