1 2 0 REPORT A safe and stylish experience MJM Marine will transform the guest experience onboard Marella Cruises’ Marella Discovery by refurbishing its cabins and suites and introducing a new antimicrobial solution developed by Vyv Northern Irish cruise ship outfitter MJM Marine is preparing to carry out significant refurbishment work onboard Marella Cruises’ Marella Discovery after winning a multimillionpound contract. MJM will outfit cabins and suites onboard the ship, with the refurbishments scheduled to take place in November 2022 while the ship is in dry dock in Cádiz, Spain. “Our team here at MJM is delighted to be partnering with Marella Cruises for the outfitting of the cabins and suites onboard Marella Discovery,” says Gary Annett, CEO of MJM Marine. “We can present solutions to Marella that facilitate safeguarding measures alongside the delivery of our bespoke turnkey outfitting expertise, all without compromising on the quality and craftsmanship synonymous with our company values.” During the project, MJM will install antimicrobial lighting technology in the ship’s wet units, working in partnership with lighting provider Vyv. The technology will enable MJM to support onboard health measures with antimicrobial protection within the cabin spaces for guests and crew. MJM had previously worked with Vyv to install its lighting solutions in public restrooms onboard Marella Explorer. “By teaming up with MJM Marine and LightPartner Lichtsysteme, we have created a winning partnership that will play an important role in the wellness and sustainability measures implemented onboard Marella Cruises’ ships,” says Colleen Costello, CEO of Vyv. “Once installed, our overhead lighting technology works non-stop to protect the environments passengers and crew frequent from many common germs, so they can cruise without worry.” MJM now plans to expand its business after securing the contract, adding a significant number of new positions to its team in the Newry, Mourne and Down area where it is based. “We are very proud of our company heritage in Northern Ireland,” says Annett. “As we continue to expand our diverse portfolio of large industry clients and projects, such as Marella Cruises’ Discovery, we are delighted to present more opportunities back to the community, while adding to the multi-skilled and accomplished MJM workforce to ensure we consistently deliver the highest calibre of outfitting for every project.” CFR MJM Marine will carry out refurbishments on Marella Discovery in Cádiz, Spain, in November 2022
