1 2 6 INTERV IEW An ever-growing business Mantas Dubavicius explains to Richard Humphreys how Aros Marine is striving to improve its project management processes ahead of a busy period Aros Marine has completed work in public spaces on Hurtigruten’s custom-built polar vessel MS Richard With Shipbuilding and repair company Aros Marine has secured various refurbishment projects for the remainder of 2022 and has already started work onboard an expedition cruise ship, renovating passenger and suite cabins and upgrading bars, restaurants and other public spaces. Aros Marine has extensive knowledge of the marine industry with projects over the past 10 years taking the company to some of Europe’s biggest shipyards, including Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Meyer Turku and Meyer Werft. “In 2016 we started providing turnkey solutions for interior design and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects, which include detailed engineering, furniture production, material supply, installation and onboard management,” says Mantas Dubavicius, vice president of business development at Aros Marine. “And to control the full supply chain, we opened new furniture production facilities in 2019.” During the Covid-19 pandemic, Aros Marine saw potential for developing detailed engineering services, which has led to it working on maintenance offers with clients. “At Aros Marine, we work and communicate according to the five company values: reliability, adaptability, commitment, efficiency, and professionalism,” says Dubavicius. “We analysed our net promoter score and found that the three things our clients appreciate the most are our flexibility, reliability and project management contribution.” Spurred on by this discovery, the company is continuing to work on its internal project management app, DO IT, which was nominated for the Technology Award at 2021’s CSI Interior Awards. “The DO IT project has been created to increase the effectiveness of production during refits and long-term newbuild projects,” says Dubavicius. “It also helped to change the mindset of the workers, causing them to use their time more effectively.” CFI “ The DO IT project has been created to increase the effectiveness of production”
