YSA Design has redesigned Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ popular La Veranda restaurant for the line’s newest ship, Seven Seas Splendor, which was christened at the end of February.
The interior design firm cooperated closely with shipbuilder Fincantieri to introduce projecting enclosed balconies which offer diners ocean views from both starboard and port.
“The unrestricted views create a feeling of openness in a relatively narrow space,” said Anne Mari Gullikstad, CEO of YSA Design and project leader for La Veranda. “The bays were constructed in such a way that they do not detract from the ship’s side aspect, cast shadows over cabin balconies below or obscure views from the bridge.”
According to YSA Design, La Veranda’s décor is intended to evoke the outdoors by breaking up the longitudinal view through the restaurant, directing the diner’s gaze out to sea. The restaurant also includes an open-air space with a balcony, garden pavilions and outdoor seating.
