The netTalk Maritime system can screen passengers and crew for symptoms without physical interaction

netTALK Maritime has developed a new health monitoring system which integrates with the Tritan Software SeaCare and SeaConsult platforms. The solution is intended to enable to sick passengers to be quickly identified and quarantined immediately.

The screening process includes non-invasive pulse reading and rhythm, respiration rate, and a chat-bot questionnaire based on triage protocols used by hospitals. The system will also be updated with fever detection and SpO2 oxygen saturation testing in the future.

Cruise lines can use the system to screen guests and crew in real time in certain locations, or at specific time intervals, or at embarkation and disembarkation. Guests can also self-report before leaving their cabins, or be checked before entering public areas. Meanwhile, crew members are screened at key points, such as when they enter cabins or before manning workstations.

If a person is required to quarantine in their cabin, the ship’s medical team and onshore doctors can use the cruise line’s app embedded with the netTalk Maritime system to carry out a virtual check-up. Some diagnostic procedures can also be carried out via the mobile phone camera to minimise contact with infected passengers.

"This solution helps in a lot of ways, so cruise lines will be able to monitor, do contact tracing and minimise visits to the medical centre since people can chat or have a video consultation with a doctor," said Roger Blum of Cruise & Port Advisors, which represents netTALK Maritime to the cruise industry. "This could also allow virtual consultations for people who have non-Covid-19 issues, such as a cut, reducing their potential exposure at a medical centre waiting room."

The netTalk Maritime system integrates with the Tritan Software SeaCare platform, allowing real-time health information to be sent electronically to the medical team without any physical interaction required. The SeaCare platform can receive, process, monitor, protect and manage the required health data of each person onboard, in compliance with governmental regulations.
