Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a US$165 million modernisation – the largest yet in the Royal Amplified programme.
The revitalisation project will touch every aspect of the ship to give guests new thrills and experiences. Down the centre of the ship passengers will be able to explore the seven neighbourhood concept where similar activities will be placed together.
The top deck will feature a reimagined pool and sports zone showcasing twin FlowRider surf simulators, nine-deck-high zip line, twin rock-climbing walls, the tallest slide at sea Ultimate Abyss and trio of multi-story waterslides named The Perfect Storm, as well as Splashaway Bay for younger guests. The Lime & Coconut will sit at the centre of the deck, offering poolside cocktails, live music from DJs and a range of places to relax.
When she sets sail from Royal Caribbean’s new Terminal A in Miami, Florida on 24 November 2019, Oasis of the Seas will also feature a range of new dining options. The line’s first barbecue restaurant, Portside BBQ, will offer an all-American meat-packed menu, while El Loco Fresh will serve Mexican classics. Other new venues will include Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, as well as Sugar Beach, which will offer sweets and ice cream.
New entertainment venues include Spotlight Karaoke, the Music Hall showcasing cover bands, and the Bionic Bar where guests can order cocktails made by robotic bartenders. Families can come together at the new Royal Escape Room – Mission Control: Apollo 18 or in Clash for the Crystal City in a game of laser tag.
"When Oasis of the Seas debuted as the world's largest and most ground-breaking cruise ship a decade ago, the typical cruise vacation as the world knew it was forever changed,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “Today, our Oasis Class ships continue to lead the industry and attract vacationers new to cruising. Now with the opportunity to disrupt the industry once again, we've gone all-in with our biggest and boldest amplification yet. Oasis will turn heads when she arrives to Miami this November and the Northeast in May 2020."
Part of the world’s largest class of ships, Oasis of the Seas will break records when she becomes the largest ship to sail from New York in May 2020. She will then reposition to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, offering seven-night sailings to The Bahamas with visits the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
