Irish Ferries has officially launched its award-winning new cruise-ferry W.B. Yeats.
At 195 metres long, W.B Yeats can accommodate 300 cars, 165 trucks and 1,800 passengers. As of 14 March, she will undertake up to four voyages each week, departing Dublin at 4pm and arriving in Cherbourg at 11am local time the following day.
“We are delighted to welcome guests onboard the W.B. Yeats,” said Andrew Sheen, managing director of Irish Ferries. “While this spectacular ship is already in service on the Irish Sea, we are very excited to get her started on the Dublin to Cherbourg crossing which will strengthen our tourism and trading links with France, one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations.”
Passenger spaces feature rich furnishings and décor, as well as panoramic sea views. Benefits for passengers include unlimited luggage, free wi-fi, many bars and restaurants, onboard cinemas and retail outlets.
“I’m thrilled that Irish holidaymakers now have the chance to sail in style directly from Dublin to the Normandy coast on the magnificent W.B. Yeats,” said Nora Costello, director of Consumer Marketing and Sales at Irish Ferries. “Families have the space to move and be well entertained with family fun as well as movie screenings in The Abbey and The Peacock cinemas, while those hoping for a more tranquil crossing can relax and unwind with a good book in the quiet lounge or enjoy the sea views on deck. The embodiment of relaxation, the holiday truly begins the moment passengers step onboard.”
In a bid to improve the sustainability of its ships, Irish Ferries fitted W.B. Yeats with next-generation engineering systems and the latest scrubber technology to reduce harmful emissions. The ferry’s ballast water treatment system also helps to protect the marine environment below the water. Energy efficient LED lighting systems have also been installed and recyclable materials replace plastics straws and lids in the onboard eateries.
