The inaugural Greenport Congress Oceania will take place in Newcastle, Australia, on 15-17 February 2023. The event aims to promote sustainability in the Oceanic region’s maritime industry.

Hosted by the Port of Newcastle, the congress will bring together environmental managers from port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines and logistics firms to discuss the latest sustainable developments and environmental practices.

The opening keynote session – titled ‘Options for ports to combat climate change’ – will include panelists Craig Carmody, CEO of Port of Newcastle, and My Therese, head of Oceania export market and regional ocean management at AP Moeller Maersk.

In addition, a panel of experts will be discussing renewable energy and the journey to net zero. They will include Matthew Bowdler, principal sustainability advisor for Pilbara Ports Authority; Simon Byrnes, chief commercial officer for Port of Newcastle; and Jonathan Abrahams, head of maritime advisory at DNV Australia.

Other key sessions will focus on net zero carbon cruising, green financing for sustainable port development, and green logistics and multimodal supply chains.
