Carnival Cruise Line is planning to resume its North American service this summer, with a total of eight ships scheduled to operate cruises from Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston beginning on 1 August. However, operations will remain paused in all other North American and Australian markets until at least 31 August.
Carnival Dream, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Vista will be the ships cruising from Galveston, while Carnival Breeze and Carnival Elation will begin operation from Port Canaveral. The vessels offering cruises from Miami will be Carnival Horizon, Carnival Magic and Carnival Sensation.
Carnival stressed that any planned resumption in service would be dependent on its continuing cooperation with local, national and international government officials. The cruise line also stated that enhanced operational protocols and social gathering guidelines in place at the time cruises were resumed would be observed onboard all ships.
“We are committed to supporting all public health efforts to manage the Covid-19 situation,” said Carnival Cruise Line in a press release. “We are taking a measured approach, focusing our return to service on a select number of homeports where we have more significant operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our guests. We appreciate the understanding and support of our guests and travel agent partners and look forward to welcoming them onboard as the environment for travel and tourism improves.”
Impacted guests and travel advisors will be notified by email, with options for a combined future cruise credit and onboard credit package or a full refund. Guests will be able to make this selection online, rather than being required to contact the Carnival customer service centre.
