Seattle-based cruise line Windstar Cruises has returned to Alaska for the first time in 20 years and sailed its first-ever expedition cruise.

The 212-passenger all-suite Star Legend embarked on her first 14-day Alaska expedition on 18 May, sailing from Anchorage to Kenai Fjords National Park, Sitka, Juneau, Icy Strait Point in Hoohnah, Haines, Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm, Wrangell, Misty Fjords, Metlakatla and Ketchikan.

“We are thrilled to finally be back in Alaska having just launched our Signature Expeditions programme that embraces the natural beauty of the region, and allows for the most authentic, destination-focused experiences for our guests,” said John Delaney, president of Windstar Cruises.

Windstar will offer more than 25 different Alaska departures in 2018 and 2019. Guests will be able to enjoy the line’s new Signature Expeditions, which will take them on zodiac and kayaking voyages along Alaska’s natural coastline so they can spot the region’s wildlife. The tours will be led by the Windstar Signature Expeditions Team.
