Windstar Cruises has officially embarked upon its second consecutive Alaska cruise season, which will run until 12 September 2019. Guests can enjoy a range of expeditionary activities, as well as home comforts onboard Star Breeze, which has been newly renovated Star Breeze as part of its Star Plus Initiative

New for this season, Windstar will offer a new ‘Alaska Glaciers & Prince William Sound’ itinerary, which will visit tiny ports such as Valdez and Petersburg and include new scenic cruising to the Hubbard Glacier and College Fjord in northern Prince William Sound. The 2019 offerings will also include overland explorations to the Canadian Rockies.

The cruises aim to bring passengers closer to nature through visits to smaller, more secluded ports and its Signature Expeditions programme. Onboard offerings include lessons and lectures on the region’s culture, history and wildlife hosted by a team of experts in glaciology, marine biology and more.

Venturing further afield, passengers can explore the local waterways and sights on kayaking and Zodiac excursions, for example to the Kenai Fjords and Endicott Arm.

“We are honoured to have our Alaska itinerary recognised on Conde Nast Traveler’s 2019 Hot List that noted, ‘As far as Alaskan expeditions go, this itinerary gives passengers more access to so many aspects of the state’s culture than any competitor,’” said John Delaney, president of Windstar Cruises. “It’s true, our Alaska destination delivery stands out from all others – our elegant small ship visiting out of the way, small ports, and launching Signature Expeditions right from the ship, to explore nature with expert guides – cruising Alaska doesn’t get any better.”

Star Breeze will be the first to sail in Alaska in 2020, offering 22 different journeys from 16 May. The 312-passenger ship will showcase 50 new suites including the spacious Grand Owner’s Suite, as well as new restaurants, an enhanced spa and fitness centre, elevated pool and more environmentally friendly engines.
