Following three years of intense work to attract cruise ships, Tarragona Cruise Port has firmly positioned itself as a popular cruise destination in the Mediterranean. Testament to its success, the port has doubled the number of cruise calls from 11 in 2015 to 22 in 2016.

Major cruise operators such as The World, Azamara Club Cruises, Silversea Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Windstar Cruises and P&O Cruises, all visit the port due to its location on Spain’s Costa Daurada. Not only is Tarragona 100km from Barcelona, but the city also offers easy access to a wide range of interesting shore excursions for cruise passengers. Plus, Tarragona is a UNESCO World Heritage City, boasting sites such as the ancient Roman Tarraco and the medieval monastery of Poblet. Guests can also watch the famous Castells (Human Towers) displays.

Another major tourism projects that is currently underway is the construction of Europe’s first Ferrari Land at PortAventura World, which will offer 60,000sqm of pure Ferrari fun. The attraction is scheduled to open in 2017 and is expected to strengthen the Costa Daurada’s tourism offering. Tarragona will also host the XVIII Mediterranean Games between 30 June and 9 July 2017, during which it will participate in 33 sports.

The Port of Tarragona, which offers affordable port charges, provides high quality services and always ensures safety for both passengers and ships.
