The World Ocean Council (WOC) Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) will attract members of the international ocean business community to discuss industry-driven solutions to sustainable ocean development challenges.

The SOS 2016 theme is Ocean 2030: Sustainable Development Goals and the Ocean Business Community. The Ocean 2030 session, chaired by Tom Boardley, Lloyd’s Register’s executive vice president for corporate and external affairs, will feature presentations on shipping, oil and gas, fisheries, aquaculture, renewable energy, cruise tourism, marine mining, submarine cables and ports.

Delegates will also discuss how they can achieve the 2016-2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and what opportunities and risks future ocean use will create for each sector in future. The SOS 2016 Plenary Sessions include an Ocean Executive Forum involving a multi-sector CEO panel, and discussions on sustainable ocean development, the digital ocean and accelerating investment for sustainable development.
