Star Cruises is to homeport SuperStar Gemini in Port Klang, Penang and Langkawi from November 2018 to April 2019, enabling parent company Genting Cruise Lines to strengthen its presence in Malaysia.

SuperStar Gemini will sail a series of three- and four-night roundtrips from the three Malaysian ports, as well as from Phuket in Thailand. Guests will be able to visit various destinations in the Straits of Malacca region, such as Krabi in Thailand and Sinagpore.

“Star Cruises is excited to be back home in Malaysia and to offer local and international guests a fresh, unique and exciting experience with another one of our cruise ships, SuperStar Gemini,” said Ang Moo Lim, president of Star Cruises. “With multiple homeports, including Port Klang, Penang, Langkawi and Phuket, we want to make it more convenient for more guests to join us. Various travel options, including fly-cruise packages, make it easy to discover the hassle-free joy of cruising to multiple destinations, which is an affordable, value for money and truly a-one-of-a-kind experience.”

Genting Cruise Lines said the deployment is part of its ongoing commitment to serving Malaysia’s growing cruise industry.

“Genting Cruise Lines has a long history in this part of Southeast Asia and we are excited to be making Malaysia SuperStar Gemini’s new home in November 2018 to carry on the legacy of SuperStar Libra, which recently retired from active duty from the Star Cruises fleet,” said Kent Zhu, president of Genting Cruise Lines. “As a home-grown cruise company with deep roots in the region, Genting Cruise Lines continues to be committed in promoting the growth of the cruise industry in Asia and we are looking forward to strengthening our relationships with the countries and destinations that will be part of our exciting new itineraries.”
