Silversea Cruises has released a selection of renders showcasing how Silver Cloud will look following her conversion into an ice-class expedition ship, which will take place from August to October 2017.

First launched in 1994, Silver Cloud was the first in Silversea’s classic fleet and will undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment to strengthen her hull so she can sail expedition cruises in polar waters.

New renders show that Silversea will also refurbish several public areas, including La Terrazza, The Restaurant, Panorama Lounge and Venetian Lounge. The ship will also be fitted with an Observation Lounge and a new gym with Technogym equipment.

“As the first ship in our fleet, Silver Cloud has a special place in Silversea’s history, and we’re delighted to reveal further details of her refurbishment,” said Barbara Muckermann, chief marketing officer at Silversea. “We look forward to welcoming guests aboard to experience Silver Cloud’s luxurious interiors as well as her incredible itineraries later this year.”

Silver Cloud will be able to accommodate 260 guests in non-polar regions and 200 in polar regions. The vessel will also have a team of up to 19 dedicated experts on hand to lead shore excursions and give daily presentations and lectures. Presented in the ship’s theatre, the talks will also be streamed live to all suites.
