Silversea Cruises’ Silver Explorer is to undergo a stern-to-bow refurbishment in Las Palmas, Spain this month, before re-entering service on 20 May 2017.
Part of Silversea’s US$170 million fleet-wide refurbishment programme, the three-week dry dock will include a refresh of the ship’s entire colour scheme to blue and beige tones. This will be reflected in the new carpets and wall treatments in the corridors, staircases and all public spaces.
The Observation Lounge, Panorama Lounge and Connoisseur's Corner will all be updated with new furniture, wall treatments and carpets, while the theatre’s bar will be completely redesigned. The Observation Lounge will also be filled with the reference and entertainment materials from the library, which will be replaced by a boutique.
Elsewhere, the restaurant's buffet counters, ceiling and walls will get a makeover and the furniture will be refashioned with new upholstery. The spa and fitness centre will be doubled in size, taking over the area occupied by the original boutique. Plus, the Outdoor Grill will be enhanced with a new awning.
Suites will be fitted with new carpets, wall treatments, curtains, furniture, flat-screen TVs and lighting fixtures. Most suites will feature bathrooms renovated with new flooring, granite appointments and rainforest showers. Meanwhile, the eight Expedition Suites on Decks 3 and 4 will be converted into 16 Vista and View Suites, most with a connecting door.
Silver Explorer will return to service with a 20 May voyage from Lisbon, Portugal to Honfleur, France.
