Seabourn has named its first new luxury expedition ship, Seabourn Venture. She will visit polar regions after entering service in 2021, sailing to the Arctic for the summer and later move to the Antarctic.

Seabourn Venture, and a yet-to-be-named sister ship that will launch in summer 2022, are being built at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Italy and will carry two custom-built submarines onboard to enable guests to see beneath the ocean’s surface. The ships will also carry kayaks and 24 Zodiacs for a more immersive expedition experience. Accommodation on the vessels will come in the form of 132 veranda suites.

“The name Seabourn Venture is an exciting step in the process of launching even more immersive voyages designed specifically for the expedition traveller who dares to go beyond the norm in terms of destinations and experiences they seek,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn.

“Combined with the team of 26 experts that will bring the expedition experience to life, we are going to draw on our pedigree to deliver breathtaking experiences and I know Seabourn Venture is going to create lifetime memories for the adventurer that wants to go farther, into more remote destinations than they may have ever seen before, in true Seabourn ultra-luxury.”

The crew on both ships will comprise well-travelled individuals, as well as wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists. Crew members will interact with guests regularly through presentations and more casual conversations to provide guests with insights into the history, ecology and culture of the places they visit.
