Seabourn has hand-picked a team of wilderness experts, scientists, historians and Zodiac operators to lead its Ventures by Seabourn experiences for the 2019 summer season in Alaska and British Columbia.

The 15 team members (full list here) will lead activities such as kayaking or Zodiac trips in Misty Fjords, Holgate Glacier and the Inian Islands, as well as hikes to Mendenhall Glacier, Rainbow Falls and the Perseverance Trail. They will also share insights and in-depth knowledge about the history, ecology and culture of Alaska and British Columbia with guests as part of the Seabourn Conversations programme.

Expedition leaders will rotate throughout the season and will also be joined by additional team members on select sailings. Local tour operators will also assist with hiking excursions.

“The strength of the group lies in the combination of academic passion, wealth of experience and local knowledge that they bring to each cruise schedule,” said Robin West, vice president of Expedition Operations for Seabourn. “This season’s expedition team will not only join the guests on Ventures outings, but will add to the onboard experience of Seabourn Sojourn with complimentary lectures on their fields of expertise including marine biology, geology, ornithology and history. They’ll further be available at every turn to point out wildlife, join guests for dinner, and answer questions around the ship about the wild and pristine wonders that draw them – and our guests – back year after year.”

The optional Ventures by Seabourn programme will be available at an extra cost during Seabourn Sojourn’s 11-, 12- and 14-day ‘Ultimate Alaska’ itineraries between June and October 2019.
