The second of Scandlines’ new hybrid ferries for the Rostock-Gedser route left the Danish shipyard Fayard yesterday. M/V Copenhagen will go into operation on Wednesday 21 December at 09:00 from Gedser in Denmark.
During the last couple of months, the vessel successfully completed a comprehensive test programme, where among other things the manoeuvrability was tested under usual and unusual conditions.
”The vessel performs fully as expected, it is a pleasure”, said senior captain Christian Jensen. ”The maximum speed was measured at 24.5 knots off the Swedish coast.”
The vessel is now on course for its future route between Rostock in Germany and Gedser in Denmark.
In January, both of Scandlines’ new hybrid ferries – M/V Berlin and M/V Copenhagen – will return to the yard to have new injection systems fitted. This should not affect the Rostock-Gedser route timetable, though, as M/V Kronprins Frederik will be drafted in to provide cover.
