Saga Pearl II is to end her career in the Saga Cruises’ fleet with a 54-night ‘South African Farewell Adventure’ cruise, which will start on 16 February 2019.

Built in 1981, Saga Pearl II sailed under several names and brands before joining Saga Cruises in 2010. The vessel will retire from the fleet after her 54-night voyage and will be replaced by the line’s new 999-guest, all-balcony ship Spirit of Discovery in summer 2019.

Sailing from Portsmouth, UK, Saga Pearl II will call at destinations including Gambia, Angola, Cape Town, East London, Mozambique, Durban, Richard’s Bay, Cape of Good Hope, Namabia, the South Atlantic island of St Helena, Senegal, Cape Verde, Madeira, Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. The last port is Ferrol, the gateway to Galicia and Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

Shore excursion highlights will include an overnight mooring in Cape Town and a safari at the Pumba Game Reserve or Addo Elephant Park in Port Elizabeth, a two-night overland excursion to Kruger National Park, a kayaking safari in iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and a visit to Gorée Island or the Pink Lake.
