Saga Cruises’ is to return to Greenland for the first time in more than a decade in 2020.

Departing Dover, England on 16 June 2020, Spirit of Discovery will sail a 21-night voyage that includes calls at various ports in Greenland, as well as visits to Dublin, Republic of Ireland and Reykjavik, Iceland.

Highlights will include an overnight in Greenland’s capital city, Nuuk; a visit to Uummannaq where guests will be serenaded by young musicians; a trip to Viking sites in Narsarsuaq; and a call to the small settlement of Kangilinnguit, which was founded by the US Navy to protect an important mineral quarry at nearby Ivittuut.

Guests will also be able to enjoy talks from Simon Boxall of the National Oceanography Centre, presentations on Inuit culture and history, and scenic cruising along the Prince Christian Sound and in the remote Eternity Fjord. The ship will also sail through Disko Bay to offer guests opportunities to watch seals, narwhal and bowhead, humpback, pilot and killer whales.
