Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China is to construct an LNG-powered ro-pax ferry for Swedish operator Rederi AB Gotland.

Scheduled for delivery in 2018, the 1,650-passenger ferry will be a sister ship to the one Rederi ordered from GSI in Autumn 2014. The first ship will be delivered in 2017.

Both ships will feature optimised hulls and have been designed to improve energy consumption and environmental impact.
