Crystal River Cruises has named American singer and actor Rachel York as godmother of its newest river ship Crystal Debussy.

York will officially christen Crystal Debussy on 28 May during a ceremony at the Port of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. She will also perform as part of the Crystal on Broadway programme, which brings performers and producers from shows on Broadway to Crystal’s theatres and lounges for special performances.

“Rachel’s tremendous talents and charm transcends demographics and connects with audiences throughout the world,” said Tom Wolber, president and CEO of Crystal. “We are so pleased she is part of the Crystal family, as her grace and passion for excellence are representative of the experience found onboard Crystal voyages.”

York said: “To fulfil such an enduring tradition and represent a ship of such style and elegance – as well as a crew dedicated to superb service and experiences day in and day out – is truly my pleasure.”

Built at MV Werften’s yard in Germany, the 106-guest Crystal Debussy embarked on her maiden voyage along the Rhine river on 9 April and will sail itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel in Switzerland this year. Seven-day cruises will also take guests to ports in The Netherlands and Belgium, while 10-day voyages will enable them to visit Germany too.

Like all of Crystal’s new river vessels, Crystal Debussy features all-balcony, all-suite accommodations and offers a butler service in every room category. Other accommodation highlights include king-sized beds, panoramic balcony-windows, walk-in wardrobes, dual vanity in the bathrooms, robes and slippers and wall-mounted flat-screen HD TVs.

Dining options include farm-to-table cuisine in multiple open-seating eateries, including The Waterside Restaurant, Bistro cafés and the Vintage Room. Palm Court provides entertainment and also hosts enrichment presentations.
