The Port of Teignmouth in Devon, UK, welcomed its first-ever cruise call on 23 July.

Teignmouth, which handles more than 400,000 tonnes of cargo annually, hosted Hebridean Island Cruises’ Hebridean Princess throughout the day.

Town officials welcomed the ship’s 50 passengers who then embarked on a day trip around Teignmouth, which included a visit to Compton Castle.

Hebridean Princess departed the port that evening as a sea shanty group performed on the quayside.

“The visit of the Hebridean Princess not only demonstrates our capacity for handling cruises at Teignmouth, but also the appetite for cruise companies to bring their passengers to see this beautiful part of the world,” Dave Atkin, manager at Teignmouth Port. “We hope that this is the first of many cruise calls at Teignmouth and look forward to welcoming many future passengers to this attractive Devon destination.”
