Piraeus Port Authority has completed extensive repair work on its floating dock Piraeus I, which is located in Perama, Greece.

The Perama Ship Repair Zone now has four operational docks for carrying out extensive maintenance and repair works.

The largest of the four docks, Piraeus I is 202 metres long, 31 metres wide, and has a carrying capacity of up to 40,000 tons and a lifting capacity of 15,000 tons. Meanwhile, Piraeus II is 113 metres long, 18.5 metres wide, and has a carrying capacity of up to 7,000 tons and a lifting capacity of 4,000 tons.

Perama also has two dry docks in Akti Vasiliadi, the largest is for 150-metre-long ships with carrying capacity up to 15,000 tons. The smaller dock caters for 90-metre-long ships with carrying capacity up to 3,000 tons.

This November, the port authority will open another new floating dock that is 240 metres long, 35 metres wide and has a carrying capacity of 80,000 tons, and a lifting capacity of 22,000 tons and cranes. The dock will supplement the existing infrastructure, aiming to attract more ships to Piraeus' Perama Ship Repair Zone from the wider Mediterranean region.
