Phoenix Reisen’s Amadea will open the 2017 cruise season at Bar Harbor in Maine, US on 23 April.
Dropping anchor at 7am local time, Amadea will berth in the port until 3pm and bring around 624 passengers and 292 crew members.
Amadea’s visit marks the first of the 171 cruise ship calls the port expects to handle before the season ends on 1 November. This marks a rise from the 105 calls it welcomed in 2016. Highlights of the season will include calls from Holland America Line’s 1,350-guest Veendam on 26 April and 12 May, and two-, three- and four-ship days in August.
As usual, Bar Harbour will ensure that it complies with Bar harbour Town Council’s daily 5,500 passenger cap in the spring and autumn months, and the daily 3,500 passenger cap for July and August. The harbour master’s office will also collect data about how many passengers come ashore from each ship to trace the economic and crowding impact of cruise visits.
