Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in Nagasaki, Japan, AIDAprima is the 11th ship in the AIDA Cruises fleet and began sailing regular seven-day Western Europe roundtrips from the Cruise Center Steinwerder in Hamburg, Germany on 30 April.

The 300m newbuild features interiors and AC rooms created by Finnish marine interior designer and supplier NIT. Leo Steel, NIT’s workshop, played a key role in helping the company to create component for the interiors and ensure everything could be shipped from NIT’s base in Turku, Finland to Nagasaki, almost 5,000 miles away.

“Our delivery included the main staircase and spa and it was mainly implemented as an EPS contract,” said Jari Suominen, CEO of NIT. “We finished the stairs 12 months after signing the deal with Mitsubishi. I think this is one of the fastest deliveries of its kind in the history of NIT, and I am very proud of our hardworking team.”

NIT has been appointed as a supplier for AIDAprima’s 124,100gt sister ship, which is currently under construction at MHI.
