Navantia Shiprepairs has renovated AIDA Cruises’ AIDAcara at its yard in Cadiz, Spain.

AIDAcara, which was launched as AIDA’s first cruise ship in June 1996, was in drydock from 26 January to 6 February and underwent routine class and maintenance work. Her hull was also repainted.

Engineers carried out various cosmetic upgrades, laying 1,800sqm of new carpet in the public areas and refreshing the guest accommodation, The Pool Bar, the Calypso Bar and The Anytime Bar, which features a redesigned dance floor. The jewellery area of the AIDA Store has also been redesigned and now offers items from Danish brand Bering alongside its extensive portfolio of exclusive watches and jewellery. Plus, a height-adjustable photo kiosk has been added to the existing digital photo stations in PhotoShop.

This March, AIDA will also debut a new cardioscan tool in AIDAcara’s Body & Soul area. The tool allows guests to analyse their cardiac system, physical make-up and metabolism, and will be rolled out fleetwide.

Following her departure from the Navantia yard, AIDAcara sailed to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and embarked on a 14-day cruise to the Canary and Cape Verde Islands.
