Narvik invests in new cable car for Narvikfjellet

Cruise passengers sailing into Narvik, Norway will soon be able to take a trip up Narvikfjellet mountain on a new cable car, which will be built by Swiss company Bartholet.

To be built between March and November 2018, the new gondola system will follow a different path to Narvikfjellet’s existing cable car so construction work does not interfere with operations in 2018. It will become operational on 1 December 2018.

The new system will have 23 cars, each with capacity for 10 people, and will take 4.5 minutes to transport passenger from the bottom to the top, and vice versa. This will enable 1,600 people to use the system every hour.
