Lindab has introduced new stopping beads and a wider range of materials and surfaces to make it easier for shipbuilders to install its ventilation systems on cruise ships, ferries and other vessels.

The new innovations will also give engineers and shipbuilding teams more flexibility when they install Lindab’s ventilation systems on vessels.

“Modern cruise ships are enormous, and their construction has become increasingly com-plex,” said Michael Båring, key account manager for Lindab. “At Lindab we have looked at what we can do to help simplify the building process. We have made installation easier with new stopping beads and a wider selection of materials and surfaces that are in demand.”

Ventilation systems can also consume up to a third of a ship’s fuel, so Lindab has also im-proved the tightness of its duct systems to reduce energy waste. This has led to the company being one of only a few manufacturers to offer duct systems certified in the highest Eu-rovent category.

“We know that a ventilation takes up a substantial amount of a ships’ fuel consumption, so we consider it our responsibility to help minimise energy waste,” said Båring. “But it is not only about the products. We take the entire value chain into consideration. With production facilities in Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic we are close to most of the European shipyards and can offer a flexible delivery and minimise transport. This is good both for the environment and for the customers. We call it ‘Good Thinking’.”

Lindab, which has delivered ventilation solutions to the marine industry for 35 years, will pro-vide ventilation solutions for six of the 16 large cruise ships that will be delivered before the end of 2018.
