Heraklion Port Authority has successfully handled four turnaround cruise calls at its new cruise terminal, which was officially inaugurated during a ceremony on 10 November 2017.

Built to help the Greek port become a possible cruise hub for the East Mediterranean, the new terminal is located just 50 metres from the cruise quay. The new air-conditioned facility is a permanent tent construction covering 1,125 square metres and provides services and equipment for both transit and turnaround calls. These include wi-fi access, a check-in and departure hall with a separate area for passenger and luggage screening, and an arrivals hall with a luggage collection area.

The terminal’s opening ceremony was attended by Christos Lambridis, general secretary of Greece’s Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy; Aris Batsoulis, senior vice president of MedCruise; Thanos Pallis, general secretary of MedCruise; members of the Greek parliament; representatives from local authorities; and terminal users.
