Gothenburg hosted more than 50 delegates representing 26 cruise destinations across the Baltic Sea region at the Summer 2016 Cruise Baltic meeting.

Held at the Scandic Rubinen, the two-day event was attended by Cruise Baltic director Claus Bødker and his marketing team, as well as representatives from ports, tourism organisations and five cruise lines. The latter included Rosalind Marshall, shore excursion purchasing executive at Saga Cruises; Christian Ceplak, senior manager of land operations and ocean at Viking Cruises; Javier Rodríguez Sánchez, director of port operations, guests and travel services at Pullmantur; Martin Lister, itinerary and experience development manager at Fred. Olsen Cruise Line; and Emma Bean, product and planning manager, and Claire Spriggs, product and planning executive, both from Thomson Cruises.

Highlights of the first day included presentations by the network’s strategic partners, hotel company Scandic and Emirates, who signed a joint agreement with Cruise Baltic in February 2016. Representatives from Aarhus, Denmark hosted a Q&A session, while the port of Gothenburg, discussed ‘Cruise and Cargo in the same port and how to welcome cruise guests’.

The following day, delegates attended sessions on the topics of ‘How to make the most of your cruise network’ and ‘Port Reception Facilities’, as well as individual meetings between cruise lines and destinations.

Attendees were also able to enjoy a guided tour of the Universeum Science Center and recently-inaugurated rainforest, and a tour of Gothenburg, which included a dinner cruise on the canal with a call at Lilla Bommen harbour.
