Fredericia in Denmark is set for its largest ever cruise season in 2017.
Located in Southern Denmark, the port is scheduled to welcome eight cruise calls, twice the number it hosted in 2016. This is expected to bring around 16,000 passengers and crew to the city.
Holland America Line’s Prisendam will start the season on 24 May and other highlights will include calls from three large Royal Caribbean International vessels, which will each bring up to 2,500 passengers to Fredericia.
“The growth in calls for 2017 affirms that our targeted sales and marketing efforts within the cruise business area have been successful,” said Nils Skeby, CEO at ADP, which owns and operates the port of Fredericia. “We have a strategic focus on developing Fredericia as a destination in close cooperation with the Municipality of Fredericia and Visit Fredericia, and this close cooperation will also be further strengthened in the years to come.”
While in Fredericia, cruise guests can visit various attractions in the city and surrounding areas, including three UNESCO World Heritage sites.
“With our central location, good berthing facilities at the port and not least Frederica’s unique history, there is great potential for further growth in the cruise area,” said Jacob Bjerregaard, Mayor of Fredericia.. This means that the city council of Fredericia has decided to invest in and strengthen our tourism initiative in our 2017 budget.”
