Carnival Corporation’s social impact travel brand Fathom now offers three new shore excursions for travellers sailing on its week-long cruise vacations in Cuba.

The five-hour ‘In Hemingway’s Footsteps’ tour allows travellers to see the sites that inspired author Ernest Hemingway, including his home ‘Finca Vigia’, his favourite restaurants and bars and the village of Cojimar, his preferred fishing spot and inspiration for The Old Man and The Sea.

Meanwhile, the nine-hour ‘Beyond Havana: Exploring the Cuban Countryside’ excursion allows travellers to visit Cuba’s countryside, including Las Terrazas, which was developed in the 1960s as part of Cuba's Green Revolution and is now a UNESCO biosphere reserve. They will meet doctors to learn about alternative medicines, visit the art community and organic farms, and tour the ruins of a former French coffee plantation. The tour includes lunch at one of Las Terrazas’ locally sourced restaurants and refreshments throughout the day.

“We want the Fathom Cuban experience to be unlike anything travellers have ever before encountered, so we created unique and exciting adventures to take travelers up close and personal into the heart of three very distinct Cuban cities – Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos,” said Tara Russell, president of Fathom. “And, with the introduction of three new fantastic, engaging experiences on the ground, Fathom travellers have even more opportunity to get off the beaten path to absorb the rich fabric of Cuban society.”

Fathom’s guests are also able to participate in approved People to People activities, such as driving in a classic American car, sampling various Cuban rums, attending a tropical cabaret, or dining in a local restaurant.

Activities onboard Adonia provide insights into Cuba’s history and cultural heritage. Other entertainment options include live music, Cuban dance classes, Domino Throwdown, Havana Architecture Bingo and Spanish language lessons.

“One of the beautiful things about traveling to Cuba with Fathom is that travellers spend less time planning and more time playing,” said Russell. “Our guests quickly learn they want to cherish every single minute they spend in Cuba and discover what makes the island such a special place. We have experienced very high demand from travellers wanting to go on an adventure to Cuba with the comfort, convenience and peace of mind that comes with traveling with Fathom. The word is spreading: going on a cruise with Fathom to Cuba is the best way to visit Cuba.”
