Cruise Europe is to take over Atlantic Alliance, a marketing initiative that was launched in 2008 to promote 14 cruise ports of various sizes on Europe’s Atlantic and northern coasts.

The 14 Atlantic Alliance ports will now be grouped with 16 others to comprise the Atlantic Europe region, which encompasses ports in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.

Traditionally ports in the Atlantic Europe region have been included in repositioning voyages, but proactive marketing by both Atlantic Alliance and Cruise Europe has encouraged cruise lines to sail partial turnarounds, roundtrips and other itineraries within the region in recent years. Regular visitors include AIDA Cruises, P&O Cruises, Costa Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, MSC Cruises, Iberocruceros and Pullmantur.

“As itinerary planning in Europe constantly moves between regions, it is vital that a consistency of message and product delivery is offered to the cruise lines,” said Michael McCarthy, chairman of Cruise Europe. “The Cruise Europe management team work in partnership with all the regions in delivering that clear message and we welcome the opportunity of working with all our members in the Atlantic Europe region to further strengthen such a vital area.”
