Costa Cruises will continue its 70th birthday celebrations with the Costa Zena festival on 7 July in Genoa, Italy.

The event will be organised by the cruise line in collaboration with the Liguria Region and the Genoa City Council and will take place in the city’s Via XX Settembre, Piazza De Ferrari, Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Caricamento and the Porto Antico (Old Port). Highlights of the festival will include the longest inflatable water slide ever built in a city, over 20 free attractions and a variety of street performances.

“To celebrate Liguria and Genoa, that has been our home for 70 years, we decided to organise an extraordinary festival, full of attractions, concerts, shows, and exceptional entertainment opportunities for all ages, never seen together in a single event,” said Luca Casaura, senior vice president of global and strategic marketing of Costa Cruises. “The idea is to transform Genoa into a cruise ship, sharing with the Genoese people the emotions and happiness that only a Costa cruise can offer.”

The show programme will start in the morning with performances by street artists including acrobats, jugglers and entertainers. Peppa Pig and PJ Masks mascots will meet the youngest festival-goers, offering workshops and entertainment throughout the day.

In the evening, the festival will be focused on the Porto Antico area where Italian artists Michele Bravi, Elodie, The Kolors, Francesco Gabbani, Ermal Meta will perform for the audience. Guests will also be able to enjoy a concert by Italian artists Al Bano and Romina Power at the Arena del Mare from 8-10pm, while the Teatro delle Feste del Porto Antico will host show from Genoese comedians. The day will close with a light and water show at Porto Antico.

“Costa Cruises is one of the most important entrepreneurial realities in Liguria, a name that bears the name of Genoa and our region around the world,” said Giovanni Toti, president of the Liguria Region. “We thank Costa for this celebration that, on the occasion of its 70 years, will animate the centre of Genoa for a day to remember with a very rich programme. We are faced with a company founded in Genoa, which has remained here for 70 years, and which continues to provide work. We are proud of this goal reached by Costa, symbol of a sector, tourism, which is one of the supports on which we are building the revival of Liguria.”
