Fincantieri subsidiary Vard is to design and construct an expedition cruise ship for Australia-based operator Coral Expeditions.

To be delivered in early 2019 by Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, the 120-guest expedition vessel has been developed by Vard Design to operate in remote and exotic destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. The ship will have facilities for lectures and briefings, shore excursions and much more.

“We are honoured to be chosen as the preferred designer and shipbuilder for their new expedition cruise vessel,” said Roy Reite, Vard’s CEO and executive director. “VARD’s highly experienced shipbuilders and our specialized subsidiaries in Norway and abroad look forward to working together with Coral’s team.”

Following her delivery, the newbuild will join the line’s flagship Coral Discoverer and its two oceangoing catamarans, Coral Expeditions I and Coral Expeditions II.
