UK-based cruise operator Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) is to host the 24th British Ports Association Conference onboard Marco Polo this November.

Marco Polo, which will be berthed at the Port of Dover from 2-5 November, will host the two-day conference on 3-4 November. Delegates will cover a wide range of topics related to maritime business and shipping development.

The formal discussions will be held in Marco Polo’s lounge, while dinners will take place in the Waldorf restaurant.

“Dover is the second most popular cruise destination in the UK – its legendary white cliffs and ancient castle are an iconic setting for passengers visiting Britain,” said Tim Waggott, the Port of Dover’s chief executive. “When we were asked to host the 24th British Ports Association Conference, we were determined to make it every bit as iconic as our port. That's why, instead of holding the conference at a shoreside venue, we decided to focus on the heart of our industry – a ship.”

Chris Coates, commercial director of CMV, said: “This event is one of the highlights in the British ports sector. CMV will be doing everything possible to help the Port of Dover have a memorable and successful event onboard.”
